The Contra Costa Times reports today that as many as 20,000 homeowners are eligible for property tax relief. This is due to a decrease in property values from the peak of the real estate market in 2005. Most of the homeowners eligible for the discount are located in the cities of Concord, Antioch, San Ramon, and Brentwood.
The article reports that those eligible for the tax reduction should expect a card in the mail by this weekend notifying them of the smaller tax bill.

Great news if you’re living in that county. Wish I had a tax relief credit coming…

In Ohio they are trying to avoid lowering our property taxes. Five counties in Ohio have been granted permission, by Governor Strickland, to freeze tax rates at the inflated values. And my County wants to do the same.
I’m glad someone in this nation is getting a break, because in Ohio the politicians are trying to stick it to us. ![]()

I know my post is a bit old, but as we can see, it now is too late, for so many people that have lost their home or have seen their home value decreasing so much in the last few years.
